Note Filer collects no personal data. There is no account, no analytics, and no server of ours for your notes to reach.

What we collect

Nothing. Note Filer has no user accounts, no login, no analytics or crash SDK, and no third-party trackers. We do not build a profile of you because we never receive any data to build one from.

How the AI works

Filing, folder suggestions, tidying, search and related-note matching all run locally using Apple's on-device foundation models and the Natural Language framework. Your note contents are not transmitted to us, to Apple, or to any third-party AI service. The app works in airplane mode.

Device permissions

Microphone and speech recognition

Used only when you record a voice note. Transcription is performed on-device (requiresOnDeviceRecognition), so the audio does not leave your device. We do not retain the audio — only the transcript you choose to keep becomes a note.

Photos

Used only for photos you pick yourself. Text recognition runs on-device with Apple's Vision framework. The app does not browse your library.

Automation (Mac only)

If you import from Apple Notes, macOS asks permission for Note Filer to read Notes. That read happens on your Mac, and the imported notes are stored locally. Password-protected Apple Notes are never read — the app counts them and leaves them where they are.

Face ID / Touch ID

Used to unlock notes you have locked. Locked notes are encrypted with AES-GCM; the key is held in your Keychain and, so that locked notes open on your other devices, syncs through your iCloud Keychain, which is end-to-end encrypted by Apple.

Sync (Pro)

If you enable sync, notes are stored in the private database of your own iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. This is your storage, governed by Apple's privacy policy and counted against your iCloud quota. We operate no servers and have no ability to access, read or recover that data. Sync is off until you turn it on.

Subscriptions

Note Filer Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment and shares only anonymous subscription status with the app. We never see your name, email, or payment details.

Children

Note Filer is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.

Data deletion

Deleting a note moves it to Recently Deleted for 30 days, then removes it. Deleting the app removes its local data. If sync is on, you can also remove the app's data from Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage. Since we hold nothing, there is nothing for you to request from us.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it and the updated version is posted here.
